Every forum attracts those who get a kick out of annoying other people. So a few rules are necessary.
You'll find some basic forum rules in the FAQ
But here's some more:
- No abusive behaviour or language.
- Nothing slanderous.
- No spam.
- No blatantly commercial postings
- No promotion of anything illegal, including pirate software, DVDs, warez, etc
- Do try to post in the correct forum - or it will be moved! (but you will get an email telling you.)
- Do please try to stay on topic. It's rude and annoying to derail a thread. If you want to chat, we have the Off Topic 'tea rooms' just for that.
- Posting the same message in a number of threads is usually banned in forums. However, if you appear to have good reason to post twice you'll get away with it here. Any more will be deleted.
- You can post pictures in this forum using the [img] tags:
- same rules as above apply - but don't post pics that are huge! Other users don't want to wait around for your picture to download. And since not all the moderators know how to delete a picture on its own, you risk your entire post disappearing. - no porn - Don't post in block caps - it's generally seen as a breach of netiquette.
- To be here, you really have got to be involved in the film industry! A Star Wars fan working down the chip shop will be booted out.
(Sorry Tony)We believe in freedom of speech, and you will find this forum to be very open, however abuses will not be tolerated. If your post breaks the rules it will be deleted. You will be offered no explanation, and no debate about the matter will be entered into. If that happens, take a deep breath, say three times, "It's only a forum." and then consider posting what you had to say again, but this time using more appropriate terminology.
Anyone persistently abusing this forum will be kicked out.
If you feel you've been unfairly treated by the moderators here, send UKFilmForum a confidential Personal Message - there's a link just above.
tip: If you click on the little blue arrow this takes you straight to the last post.
Have fun being polite to each other!

Just thought I'd add that we've also decided to take a tougher line against people that:
- clearly have no interest in furthering the aims of this forum but instead come in here to make mischief or have some little axe to grind
- are just plain boring, such as those that click the 'quote' button and then post "whaoh! That is soooooo cooool!!!" Posts like that don't encourage people to stay here and contribute. They also give the impression that other people reading this forum are idiots with nothing better to do.
- That keep promoting one single film or service in multiple threads. Often they will post some dull comment followed a link to whatever they happen to be spamming. One thread per film please.
- That post in BLOCK CAPS
All offending posts will be deleted. Repeat offenders will be locked out. Persistent morons will be reported to their ISPs and to forum admins elsewhere.

We've had a deluge of spam posters using names like bokmopder, dsewarea, befriton, or neriolop. Who on Earth ever has a name like that? Our guess is there's a computer name generator at work.
Life is too short. No-one here is going to bother checking these, or else allowing hundreds of spammers the benefit of the doubt. If you register with an improbable name you will likely be locked out. Do try to look a bit human.
